DAY 3 · 18 SEPTEMBER 2026

How to be an Eagle

Day 3 at Casablanca AI Lab, 18 September 2026. An Eagle takes the system the Wolf has built and scaled, and finishes it. The name is the job: the sharp eye.

Eagle role avatar

The role

Notice what everyone else has stopped seeing. By the time a product reaches an Eagle, two operators have already spent seven weeks with it and have gone partially blind to it. The Eagle’s value is that the button in the top right being slightly wrong is genuinely bothersome to them.

The role is polishing at every level, not only the interface. The examples that define it:

  • the button in the top right is not in the right place

  • the design is not right yet

  • why does this take five clicks when it could take two

  • there is a better way to show and visualize this data

  • click here in this particular way and the database does something odd

In short: the sharp, critical eye on the finished solution. User experience, fewer clicks, better ways to show and visualize data, as little friction as possible for our users.

The first four are interface, interaction and presentation. The last is a system defect at the margin, the kind the Wolf is not expected to have caught, roughly one in a thousand. Both kinds belong to the Eagle. The Eagle phase is the last three weeks of the cycle.

The mission

Take a product that works and make it feel finished, at the interface and underneath it, including the failures nobody found because nobody looked at the edges.

Four strengths

A low tolerance for almost-right

This is the qualifying trait. A misplaced control or an unnecessary click has to actually irritate the Eagle, because a person who can live with it will not find it.

Interaction judgement

Recognizing that a working path is still a bad path, and knowing what the shorter one is. Five clicks to two is the classic case, and it is a judgement about the user’s intent, not a metric to optimize.

Edge-case instinct

Finding the one-in-a-thousand case by knowing where systems usually break, rather than by waiting for a user to report it.

Data presentation

Finding better ways to show and visualize what the system holds. A correct number displayed badly is still a defect.

Scope, explicitly

The Eagle works across the whole stack. Interface, interaction, and system. It would be easy to read this role as design polish and it is not: the database misbehaving on an unusual click path is an Eagle finding, and fixing it is Eagle work.

In one sentence

See what the others no longer can, at the surface and at the edges, and close the gap between working and finished.
